Ok, so watched it yesterday morning, and it's one I definitely will have to watch again very soon since I feel like I missed a bunch of things in the first viewing. Mom and I watched and I thought it was fabulous, Doris was wonderful as always and this was the first real drama role I've seen of hers, she was fantastic! She is so multitalented, and I even liked that they put a bit of comedy in it, like how they were talking about what paid for the trip. Very good movie, kept me on the edge of my seat
Very interesting article on this movie. It points out the backlash against Doris Day in the '70s by film students -- a result of the negative feelings generated by the Hollywood dopers and sex addicts of the '60s.
I bought this dvd on Ebay and it arrived today so as I had the house to myself for a couple of hours I sat and watched it. The last time I saw it was about fifteen years ago. I thought that Doris and Jimmy Stewart were great together and the suspense of the film had me sitting there until the finish. I also enjoyed the bonus features.
This is a GREAT movie. Doris Day was very good acting dramatic and she was great in the scenes when she was stalking to her son after he got kidnapped and when the prime minister was about to be shot. Does anyone know who the little boy was or if he ever got into acting when he was older???

I always save all the pictures that get posted and I have now like over 1,000 of Doris Day... I don't think I have any more room!!! lol it's ok though... Doris Day is well worth it! I love it when Doris is singing the lululby to her son... it's so sweet, then she uses the same lululby to save him...
God.... Doris Day is soooo wonderful and magnificent.... you can't even explain her in words.... you can try, but NO one can capture Doris Day with words

As stated before, I find when Doris under plays it, it is all the more effective. Her scene at the start of this film on the bus, on the buggy ride and at the restaurant, are so under played and so very real and really get to me. The same can be said of her performance throughout in Pajama Game & Teacher's Pet.
I think Doris Day should have made another movie with James Stewart... I thought they acted so well together... they made a pretty cute couple too... I thought they did any way

It's a good one, isn't it? Someone said Doris was a method actor - she 'becomes' the role when she's acting - so I can understand why films like this, Julie, Midnight Lace, took it out of her. Although Love me or Leave Me didn't have that effect, did it? Perhaps because she had the relief of singing and dancing in that?
Doris is at her best in this film. Her emotional reponse and disbelief in the kidnapping of her son is mesmerizing. The chemistry between James Stewart and Doris is perfect for the piece directed by the brilliant Alfred Hitchcock.
It would have been wonderful if Doris would have had the opportunity to do more Hitchcock movies like The Birds or Torn Curtain.
Thanks Puck, had not noticed the movie is on.What a treat!!!
Hope you had a good Christmas and traffic-trouble because of the snow is fully over.We did not make it to a white Christmas, but very close though.
All the best,
Dorine
