Re: Julie

Julie is an excellent 1956 thriller due to the fact that the audience always cares about Doris. When did you ever see a female actress land a passenger plane in distress?. Doris did a great job. If it had been filmed in colour it would have showcased the magnificent Carmel, Califonia.

Re: Send Me No Flowers

Send Me No Flowers is a bright, very funny and polished film. Audiences today are more sophisticated and get the dark humour. I believe it was ahead of its' time. Think about the brilliant and hilarious Harold and Maude in 1972. I do remember leaving the theater with my family after watching this fi...

Re: Caprice

Time gives a new perspective to viewing Caprice. It is a smart, fast moving, funny movie. I really liked the commentary on the film which gave me a new appreication for the work in this film. Doris is aways outstanding. As a spy spoof movie it is quire clever. Doris is to be commended for trying som...

Re: Casting - The Doris Day Story

The important piece to remember is to cast a classic in-depth film that illustrates the many life dramas and wonderful talented skill sets of an under appreciated actor. The drama in her father leaving, the brutality and dishonesty in her husbands, and the pain in losing her son are the stories that...

Re: Casting - The Doris Day Story

No one can sing like Doris. The actor would have to dub her songs. The songs are treasures that should only be heard with Doris Day's voice.

Re: The 2009 Doris Day Birthday Scrapbook

Doris Day has been an extended member of our family for over fifty years through her films and her music. When I was a child, our father would ask us which Doris album would we like to hear. His favourites and mine to this day -Day By Day and Day By Night - I play one of these CD's each Sunday. We a...

Re: The Thrill of it All

The Thrill Of It All is a really smart film that really looks at the world of advertizing in a new way for 1963. The brilliant series Mad Men is exploring the same material in a dramatic and dark form. Credit must be given to the brilliant and under-valued talent of Doris Day who conveys the power o...

Re: Honouary Academy Award For Doris Day -When?

I think the Academy could present the award to Doris in Carmel, California which is her home. They have made similar presentations to other actors. This is the least they could do.

I do agree that Doris does not crave the spotlight so the Academy can take the spotlight to her in 2009.

Re: Honouary Academy Award For Doris Day -When?

Today, November 4-2008 is the American election of a new president. I sincerely hope the respect of other countiries will be restored to such a magnicent nation. I believe Barack Obama will do do this. I think we might want to start a new campaign for Ms Doris Day with the Motion Picture Academy of ...

Re: Move Over Darling

This is one of Doris Day's brightest films. She is at the height of her beauty and comedic skills. Considering the press around this film when the lead was originally Marilyn Monroe, there were really high expectations. It is a memorablefilm for the caasting and humour. Upon reflection, Marilyn and ...

Re: Lover Come Back

Lover Come Back is brilliant written farce that holds up to this day thanks to the charm, and building suspense of the reveal. Doris Day never fails to hold the audience attention and Rock Hudson is her perfect match in grace and style. The movie is loved today as it was in 1961. It still makes us l...

Re: Love Me or Leave Me

Love Me Or Leave Me really illustrates the magic of Doris Day. her voice, her charisma, her rapport with her other actors and the audience that lifts this film from ordinary to extraordinary. When she is surrounded by the talent of James Cagney, she is even better. I think the movie going public cas...

Honouary Academy Award For Doris Day -When?

What will it take for the Motion Pictuce Academy to award Doris Day an honourary Oscar? Ms. Day's films embody the genuine sincereity of the 50's and 60's that is all but gone with the cynical political games and relationships of the last thirty years. Ms Day was authentic in her acting and left the...
